Lockdown - Now a part of our life

lockdown-2020

Lockdown

As we all know that whole world is going through Covid-19 pandemic. Everyday millions of people are getting infected and thousands of people are dying every day worldwide. As written in previous article that to tackle the increasing cases of Covid-19 we should practice social distancing. In order to control the cases of this disease, government of all the countries in the world have announced lockdown. Therefore we can say that human activities all over the world have stopped.

Lockdown in India -:

Due to increasing cases of corona virus India’s first lockdown was of 21 days which was announced on 24th March 2020. It was announced by our P.M Mr. Narendra Modi but it was not cleared or specified weather groceries shop and other essential services will be working or not. As soon as people heard about lockdown they get panicked started accumulating near the shop in order to stock their food for the coming 21 days. Due to this lack of information the main principle to stop the spreading of virus that was social distance was not followed by people as they accumulated at one place to take their items for stocking. Later it was confirmed that all the essential services will keep on running without any break.

Some guidelines given by government are written below -:

  1. If you are going out to takes essential services don’t keep your hands anywhere or touch anything unnecessarily.
  2. Take out a separate bag for marketing.
  3. 3. Carry hand sanitizers along whenever going out.
  4. 4. For shopkeepers it was advised to makes circles with chalk outside their shop in order to maintain social distancing.
  5. 5. Take orders on whatsaap and give customers a specific time to collect them so that there will be less chance of spreading of virus due to lesser number of people.

Central government did not give a specific time for opening of essential services and left the decision on state governments. In some states like Delhi and Karnatka it was 24*7 and in states like Maharastra etc it was 3 hours. Here it was a wrong decision taken by Maharastra government because people would come out during short period of time and will accumulate at shops etc, therefore it was a backfire for social

Impact of Lockdownin on life style-:

On our emotion

According to the data, the lockdown has had a significant and potentially damaging effect on our emotional state. There have been decreases in the amount of time spent feeling confident (down 46%), and happy (down 11%) and a 31% increase in time spent feeling sad. This fall in the amount of time spent feeling happy equates to three hours and 9 minutes less per week than before lockdown started.
Those aged 65+ are the most emotionally affected since the start of lockdown, reporting the highest levels of increase in time spent feeling sad (up 46%) and angry (up 41%) along with reductions in time spent feeling happy (down 14%)

Crisis in delivery-:

Due to lockdown restaurants along highways are closed so the truck drivers don’t get while they deliver goods so they are not driving trucks anymore due to which Lakhs of truck are standing on state borders which have essential good loaded on them.
Company owners are saying that there warehouses are being shut by police due to which services are stopped. In addition to this the delivery boys are being beaten up by police as they are suspected by them as people roaming outside their houses without any reason.
For this government told that whoever are working in essential duties, should carry their employee id with them.
Delhi government proposed a helpline number 103 for those who didn’t had employee id with them. After giving details, the government will issue them and e-pass on whatsaap so that they can do their job without any disturbance.

week than before lockdown started.

Work from home-:

Another initiative taken by government to control covid-19 was work from home. But this was only helpful for those who worked in corporate and financial sector but what for those who worked as daily wage labour, worked in construction, mining, transportation. If they don’t go to their work their companies will not be able to make profit so there will be no payment to them and eventually they will lose their jobs. Unorganized sector is very badly affected by this and about 80% of Indian population work in unorganized sector.
Due to lockdown daily wage labours lost their job and started returning to their village by walking because no transportation was available and not enough money to survive till lockdown ends.

Economic packages announced by different coutries and Indian -:

  1. U.K announced 15 % of their GDP in order to fight this pandemic and help the people who have lost their jobs.
  2. U.S announced 2 Trillion $ package.
  3. India announced 20 Lakh Crore rupees which is nearly 10% of its GDP.

Positive impact of lockdown -:

Though lockdown has many bad effects on humans but also have some positive impacts which are as follows -:
Less number of vehicles are moving and factories are being shut down so amount of air and water pollution is reduced.
Concentration of NO2 and P.M 2.5 gas ( very toxic gas and has very minute particle that enter to blood through lungs and can cause seviour respiratory disease) has lowerd a lot. week than before lockdown started. Water pollution has reduced to 40%-50%. Wild life has improved and animals week than before lockdown started.
are even on road as very less or no one is moving around.
Use of renewable resources has been increased. After 20-30 years people are able to see The Great Himalayas from Jalandhar ( Punjab ) which is week than before lockdown started.about 140 km away from it.
