Education Policy of 2020

Early Education Policy -:

Early education system of our country was divided in form of 10 + 2 system and then graduation . It was not so good for the students as it limited the streams in which student can go and learn. It did not gave a vast stream for students to choose.

During the 10 years (i.e. from class 1 to 10) students studied all the subject taught and no vocal education or any other type of bagless education was given which increase the burden on student because of that overall development of students do not take place. After class 10 students only had 3 streams to choose. They were -:

1.     Science

2.     Humanities

3.     Commerce

This was not good for student who liked science as well as who were interested in political science they . This was the thing where students  were limited in their field and did not had opportunity to anything else than their selected streams.

Policy of 2020 -:

The policy of education was framed in 1986 and modified in 1992 but the education policy of 2020 is a revolutionary policy for India.

Education policy of 2020 is a good initiative taken by the government of India.

It gives student a vast stream to chose and carry on through their career. The earlier system of 10 + 2 has now been changed to 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 system. These are basically the years of pre-primary , primary stages of school life of student. The 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 system has been explained below -:

1.     5 years -:  Hear the student start going to school from the age of 3 in pre school till age of 6 and then next 2 years in class 1 and 2.

2.     3 years -: This will be the preparatory stage which will focus on playing, discovery and activity based classroom learning. This will be from class 3 to 5.

3.     3 years -:  This stage will be called Middle Stage which will focus upon experiential learning in mathematics, science, humanities etc.

4.     4 years –: This stage will be called secondary stage and will be focused upon multi disciplinary studies and more choices will be given to students.

Students after class 10 will have choice to take science with humanities or any combination of subject they want.

A difference table between 10 + 2 and 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 system is given below-:

As in our country jobs like carpentering, gardening, welding etc. is seen as low level. But in other developed countries these are respected as other skilled jobs. In order to change this mindset of people of our country government has taken good initiative that is from class 6 only internships will be offered to students and vocational training will be given. 10 day bagless period will be there so that student can experience these jobs.

From class 6 on wards only students will be taught coding and the importance of class 10 and 12 board will be reduced.

The student were previously only analysed only by teacher and on behalf of that students were given grade but now through the new policies the report card will have teacher analysed grade as well as self evaluation grade which will be given by student to themselves. In addition to this student classmates will also give grade to the student in their report card. This will help student in their further life for self evaluation as the will get a proper guidance on themselves.

Now 6% of GDP will be invested in education by government which is a huge amount. Earlier it was 3%. Government is also planning to take different type of exam in which memory based questions will be reduced but nothing clearly is specified for it in the policy.

After class 12 programme -:

Multiple entry and exit programmes wil be introduced means

If you start a degree and after 1 year you think that is not worthy for you, you can take the subject credits from it and can transfer to the new degree you are continuing with.

Some of the thing that you need to know while doing degree -:

1.    If you drop in 1st year you will get a certificate

2.    If you drop in 2nd year you will get diploma

3.    If you drop in 3rd year you will get bachelor degree

4.    If you drop in 4th year you will get bachelor research degree

5.    Now Ma and M.sc. will be 1 year course

Top 100 foreign countries have been given permission to set up their campus in India.

Negatives of 2020 education policy -:

Most criticized part of this policy is language as it is written that till class 3 the schools will teach in their regional language but also it not written that this is compulsory. This will also force school not to teach in English but english nowadays is very important language to communicate internationally. Due to this movement of people from one state to other will be affected as the student has not learnt the other sate regional language in which they have shifted so there will be problems in getting comfortable with that other language. Powers of education have been taken from state government and transferred to central government.
